Two Pickpockets Age Eleven Commit Theft Attempt
In London, two boys named Smith and Rowland aged about eleven were brought before the lord mayor for cutting a lady dress and attempting to steal her pocket. A pruning knife and two silk handkerchiefs were found on them. The theft would have yielded 40 sovereigns and silver. They belong to a gang of over forty pickpockets. They were committed to Bridewell for two months each.
