Taglioni shines in La Gitana at Her Majesty's Theatre
Mademoiselle Taglioni graces Her Majesty's with La Gitana to a tumult of applause. Her subtle expressiveness and varied mood from tender pas de trois to vivacious cachacha captivate the audience, while the Queen Dowager and royal party attend. In London, Kean returns with Hamlet at Haymarket to a throng, with Miss Kelly’s theatre near closure and public debate over pricing and future plans.

Railway Compensation and Shipwreck Fragments Revealed
The Railway Times reports two compensation cases with claims of £1500 and £3,600 and jury awards of £300 and £390 respectively. A vast wreck of the Royal George has yielded relics in good condition including part of a hat, inkstand pieces, china, wine bottles and bones. The Hampshire Telegraph notes a Hull Santon garden method using hellebore to kill caterpillars on gooseberry trees, recommending powdering foliage after rain or wetting during dry periods for quick destruction.
