Misconduct Charges Against Hampden Exposed by Satirical Editors

Murder at Castletown in Heywood Lancashire

A murder occurred near Heywood Lancashire on Saturday evening as a carriage drive from a new hall owned by Mr Richard Kay cotton manufacturer Castletown was attacked. Duckworth the victim lay in a pool of blood, and four blows were heard by groom John Kay who chased the assailants but found no one. Duckworth died Sunday morning and two suspects Teller and Garnett were later found at the Farewell Inn Castleton Moor. Wolstenholme was arrested at the scene. Local officials and surgeons attended. marks and a broken cart leg linked to the public house yard were found near the body.
