Ewen Michigan faced a destructive tornado injuring several workers on a school roof with one death and multiple serious injuries. Mexico Missouri is slated to become a Chicago and Alton Burlington terminal, sharing tracks for a new St. Louis shortcut. Springfield subdistrict miners resumed work after a brief strike over wash house demands. Peter O Elliott of Minneapolis was dragged from a White House corridor, fought, and sent to a government asylum. Morse Iron Works and Dry Dock Co. of Brooklyn closed indefinitely, blamed on walking delegates and time-contract yard activity.
A Chesapeake and Ohio Sth fast passenger train derailed at McKendrie West Virginia with no fatally injured. The engine left the track and the coaches were derailed. Separately C S Meisness was arrested in Laurinmore North Carolina on a charge of embezzlement and brought to Crookston Minnesota. He formerly managed the farmers elevator at Nellisville and is alleged to be $15000 short in his accounts.

King Edward and the prince of Wales sent representatives while Ambassador Choate and US officials attended. Also noted are appointments, court cases, strikes, and a tornado disaster across several states.
Illinois state news reports Springfield mayor Harry Devereux indicted on malfeasance in office for allowing gambling, with 23 others charged for keeping gaming houses and 43 for slot machines. Grand jury urged harsher penalties and noted gambling activity in the city.

Ellis J Woods, cousin of Dr Alexander Woods, superintendent of St Clair county farm, fell from an Illinois Central passenger train about six miles west of Belleville. He lay unconscious beside the track for over twelve hours until found by a passing construction crew. He was taken to St Elizabeths hospital in Belleville where Dr C G Rayhill provided care. there are slight hopes for recovery.
Five persons were killed and a score injured when a Wisconsin Central limited passenger train hit a Forty-third avenue street car at Fifty-second avenue in Chicago. The crowded car carried Harlem race track patrons. the motorman had signaled to cross and was in the track center when the crash occurred, leaving no time for passengers to escape.
Leopold Knebel, a wealthy Bond County resident, was fined $1,000 by Judge Charles Moore in the circuit court after a board of review investigation found he filed three different property schedules to the assessor and he was later indicted for perjury.
Sanitary engineer Jacob A. Harmon of the state board of health investigated Fulton county almshouse and found deplorable conditions. He recommends abandoning the building to address the dire situation and protect occupants.

Miss Clara Givens of East St. Louis owes her life to Thomas Jones a Illinois Central brakeman who pushed her from the track just in time to save her from being struck by a switch engine.

A severe wind storm in eastern Omaha on Wednesday collapsed a brick wall at the Union Pacific shops, burying four workers. A.T. Ratliff of Lawrence Kansas died and three others were seriously injured while several east end buildings shook, including the Union Pacific headquarters five story block. The wall was near completion for the roof and had been thought sturdy, but the wind crushed it into a wreck.
A Burlington & Quincy passenger engine entering Beardstown yards at 20 mph derailed onto a side track. Two loaded oil tanks exploded, igniting cars and sheds. The mail car burned completely and the train was wrecked. All crew and passengers escaped with minor injuries. Two horses near the tanks were killed.
A head end collision on the Kansas City Southern railroad four miles north of Siloam Springs Ark Tuesday evening killed four men and seriously injured two. A heavy freight train with two engines north and an extra engine south collided destroying engines. Victims named include engineers Worrell and Penrod both from Mena Ark, fireman Hamlin of Siloam Springs and fireman Rogers of Pittsburg Ark.
