Washington May 30 The Grand statue ceremony saw Patriotic Women of the U S Invant Circle Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic place a wreath at Grant s feet and sing America after remarks by Grand Army members. Flags on executive buildings including the White House are at half mast today in memorial day observance.
At Riverdale Memorial Day observances Minister Wu Ting Fang placed a wreath on Gen Grant tomb and delivered a eulogy. He expounded Grant as citizen soldier and statesman, noting world esteem from his world tour and Chinese admiration for leaders rising from humble beginnings.
