Me reports McGinnis, captured at Carlsbad by Sheriff Stewart, identified as one of the men who held a train near Folsom on the Colorado & Southern line weeks ago and whose gang killed two officers during their escape at Carlon. US Marshal Foraker heads to Santa Fe penitentiary with the prisoner. Special agent Rome Sheriff Parr and J W Hunt located McGinnis. he wounded Deputy Thomson and Ranchman Pusk before being stunned and captured. He suffers wounds from the Charron fight.
A daring escape from Polis county jail freed four prisoners after watchman John Wiggars was attacked while escorting a prisoner. The inmates, aided by a self-picked lock, scattered from the basement under the courthouse and fled into the streets. Suspects include John Perry Martin Levering John Vanscoy and George Fp Smith. Smith is sought for horse stealing in Boone. No trace yet.
An August boiler blast at E. H. Wickert & Co. sash door and blind works in Appleton, Wisconsin, killed three workers and seriously injured others. A fire trapped workers in ruins, but rescue efforts saved all. The mill suffered about 20 000 dollars in losses, partly insured.
Marshalltown Iowa, Aug 23. Three men boarded a Chicano and Great Western freight train just after midnight. They shot and killed brakeman J. J. Wilson, threw his body under the wheels, and escaped. An armed posse pursued the assailants.
