Capt John R M Taylor reported at war department that a document endorsing an assassination plot against Gen Otis was found among Filipino archives. Rebecca J Taylor of Washington learned she will inherit about 300000 from an uncle in San Francisco. In Semlin Hungaria Col Ilic and six officers were arrested for conspiring against King Alexander. Mrs A H Eaton of Princeton Indiana was killed by her brother in law. Illinois Supreme Court denied Lorimer leave to restrain recount ballots in Durbarrow vs Lorimer. Gustav Gottheil rabbi died in New York at 75. Missouri Lt Gov Lee testified briefly in the doodle investigation. Tennessee Senate endorsed Cleveland’s negro speech. A Latin congress was inaugurated in Rome representing 165 million souls. Pawling & Harnischfeger Milwaukee plant destroyed by fire with loss about 150000.
On the 14th Mrs C W Brownell of Chicago was blown from her home by a gas explosion after burglars ransacked the house and left the gas on. Police officer C Leslie was shot and killed in Joplin Mo while pursuing suspected burglars. The Western Drawing Teachers association opened its tenth annual convention in Springfield Illinois with exhibitions from Chicago St Louis Denver and St Paul pupils. West Terre Haute firms halted operations due to rising Wabash river levels. A Honduras revolution succeeded with Tegucigalpa surrendering to President Bonilla on the 15th. The East & West railroad from Learock to Altamont was sold to the St Louis Valley railroad, joining the Gould system. Fire at Beaumont Texas destroyed the Hogg Swayne oil tract on the 15th causing about 1 million dollars in damage and ruin to about twenty oil companies. The blaze started when a worker overturned a lantern.
Mayor Trigg of Joplin Missouri issued a proclamation on the 16th calling a public meeting to organize 500 vigilantes to preserve order. The lynching the previous day disturbed calm, which was subsequently restored.

Illinois state news reports a newborn boy found nude in a Quincy dooryard near a Howard residence. Lottie Adams, 18, from Marshall Missouri, identified as the mother, denies knowledge. The infant died at Blessing hospital hours after arrival. police and detectives investigated the case.
John Porter, janitor at Peoria high school, was found dead in the basement furnace room. His wife and daughter discovered him on schedule, with two bullet wounds to the left breast. Police suggest suicide, but the coroner and family believe murder.
Repeated mail pouch thefts at the Springfield junction saw two pouches stolen from the depot platform.
