Uninflammable Wood Trial At Davenport Dock Yard

Disastrous Storm Flattens Tuscumbia Alabama
NasHVILLE November 23 A severe storm hit Tuscumbia killing twelve and wounding many. Among the dead are Mrs. Winston mother of the late ex governor and J B Moore sen ator wife and two children, I D Hodgins Egg editor of the Chronicle and his family. The Catholic church and Dishler Female Institute were destroyed along with mills and brick houses. A bridge on the M and C R R near town was swept away and the eastern bound train went into Spring creek leaving trains stalled for days. The mayor appeals for aid from neighboring cities.

Loomis the somnambulist denounces railways as a railway monopoly and travels to Pittsburg where a brakeman hauls him from the sleeping car. He ends in a hospital, deeming the incident a temporary loss of reason and blaming the brakeman’s dollar demand.
