The late 8 B Gillham helped organize Old Settlers and circulated a signature paper for its first meeting. He attended Edwardsville events in good health and was widely respected. A draft life account, read at Edwardsville, traces his birth in Madison county in 1812, farming, stock raising, and residence in the American Bottom near Alton.
