Enrolment at Windrem School stood at 526 at noon with 12 to 14 more to register. Projections suggest 600 once term begins as a four room annex remains unfinished. Principal John Bastin and Vice Principal Adye oversee classes with 150 students using the auditorium and outdoor facilities.
Peter Kiewit accepted a $400 000 contract for paving the road from Hudson Hope to the Portage Mountain dam site. M Leansan Carnell announced the award and named Kiewit as major contractor for the project. Senior baseball finals in the BY League at Chetwynd ended in a split with Groundbirch 12 11 and Cubs 17 14 necessitating a final game.
BC Hydro and Power Authority has started excavating for a new plant in Chetwynd to house two 3000 kW units with offices. Completion is aimed for late March 1964. The text also notes a ground birch game with two Sunday matches, Gordy Doucette hitting two home runs in the second game.
MeL A Stan Carnell, returning from Victoria, announced a contract of about 1.626 million dollars for a bridge over the Peace River near Hudson Hope to Mordhorst Sonstruckken. A start is planned within days with completion in fifteen months, with sub contracts for approaches and road work and tenders to follow once soil surveys are completed.
