Local youth dies in accident on pipeline work
Eighteen year old Robert Webbe of Chetwynd District was killed instantly when run over by a caterpillar tractor on the Westcoast Transmission Gas Pipeline project about 30 miles west of Mile 95 on the Alaska Highway. He worked for Price-Poole Construction, the southern half contractor. An inquest was ordered by Coroner Patrick Walsh. the jury viewed the body and adjourned for one week. Funeral services are expected this week.

Tenders Called On Further 15.21 Miles H H Hope Road
The Provincial Department of Highways invites bids for an additional 15.21 miles of the Chetwynd Hudson Hope road with a 2:00 PM PST bid deadline on Tuesday November 10. Work covers from the end of current Ben Ginter Construction Col. Ltd. section to near Moberly Lakes. Prospective tenders for the remaining ~14 miles will be called in spring to enable construction. Side hill cuts on the bridge to Hudson Hope segment are causing difficulties.

New Peace River Bridge Nears Opening On Time
Reports say the Chetwynd-Hudson Hope road bridge over the Peace River could open around November 9. Mordhurst Construction ahead of schedule to complete the pre stressed concrete suspension bridge, with road work to Hudson Hope improving traffic. the span will end seasonal delays from ferries and ice bridges, benefiting James & Reimer hauling 300,000,000 ft of logs for Fort St. John Lumber Co.

Building permit totals near one million dollars for 1964
Village office data shows building permits totaling 971 160 in 1964 with 382 580 residential 480 580 commercial and 108 000 school. More residential permits before year end could push the total past a million as assessments within village limits nearly double in 18 months.
