Chetwynd Village Insured at Lower Risk Class
The Underwriters Association re rated Chetwynd from Class 4 to Class 2 after a recent inspection of the Fire Department and water system. Residential rates drop to 45 cents per 100, with commercial and industrial savings also rising. Expect about 2 000 yearly residential savings and 4 000 for commercial/industrial, offsetting fire dept and water works costs.

Bennett Does It Again on First Tenders for Duncan Dam
Special report notes Bennett’s trend of underestimating costs and overestimating revenue. The opening bid for the Duncan Lake Dam work is about 15 percent below original estimates. The Duncan bid comes from a consortium of Mannixside Calgary Emil Anderson Vancouver and Standard General Construct.

Chamber To Back Hospital Society In Chetwynd
At the Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce meeting in the Chetwynd Hotel a resolution urged the Minister to approve registration of the Chetwynd and District Hospital Society citing a desperate local medical services gap with 640 students and about 5000 residents. The Chamber asked local groups including the Legion to support action and warned of urgency.
