Union Rejects Company Proposals At St John Lumber Meeting
Members of Local 1424 of the IWay rejected the company wage proposals at a Sunday April 29 meeting in Community Hall. The vote was by secret ballot and will be reported to company negotiators with possible further talks or conciliation Officers to be engaged. Company officers declined comment pending official notice from union officials.

A well attended Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Chetwynd Hotel with MLA Stan Carnall as guest of honour. Attendees included Fr S Gordon CM I Prince George College and Don Leach of the Dawson Creek C of C. Discussed organizing the Fell Fair and cooperation with the 1961 Community Club to raise standards and expand activities. A follow up meeting is set for May 8 at the hotel. The Hospital Committee reported no definite word on establishing a medical practice.

Boy Drowns At Moberly Lake In Ice Incident
Ten year old Stanley Harold Garbett son of Mrs. Minnie Garbett of Moberly Lake drowned about 6 p m Tuesday after he pushed off on a raft alone. Two five year olds present say he struck shore ice while returning and the ice gave way as he tried to reach shore.
