Earl Anderson a 26 year old worker for Westgate Logging contracted to Fort St. John Lumber Company at Stewart Lake lost sight in one eye while severing wire with an axe. A small wire fragment penetrated the left eye. he was rushed by taxi to University Hospital Edmonton after initial examination at Dewson Creek.
Tonight marks the start of a three event curling Spiel with 32 rinks entered. The Merchants and Fort St. John Lumber Company events head the program and the Curling Club event rounds out the slate.
Chetwynd Village Chairman C. C. Winn received a ceremonial gavel at a Chamber of Commerce dinner in the Chetwynd Hotel. Newly installed Chamber President Frank Oberle made the presentation during the Tuesday gathering on March 5.
Dr. Gordon Shrum head of B C Hydro and Canadian Atomic Research outlines the Peace Power Project roadwork and bridge construction near Hudson Hope. He confirms paving of the Hudson Hope to Power Project road and a bridge six miles upstream, plus Chetwynd to Hudson Hope road improvements. He cites 60,000,000 cubic yards of fill as the dam’s scale, enough material to build a Halifax to Vancouver wall. cont'd pg 4 Peace.
