The new ferry on the Peace River to Hudson Hope operates two shifts including Sundays. Service hours run 7 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to midnight. Earlier road conditions from Chetwynd to Hudson Hope were reported fair and dusty with caution needed on narrow stretches.
Fred Miller, longtime resident of Chetwynd and PGE roadmaster, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, June 21, in Dawson Creek hospital from injuries after his speeder left the rails at Mile 41 near Progress. Survived by widow and two daughters. Funeral held June 25 at United Church Quesnel with burial in Quesnel cemetery. Officials investigate probable cause amid strong winds.
Desmond Westgate, son in law of Bud Campbell, has acquired an interest in Campbell's Self Serve Ltd and will join active management. He previously ran trucking in Chetywnd and has worked in lumbering and farming near Fort St John. He and his wife with two children now live in the community.
Wm. Hsak Returning Officer confirms August 30 as the date for the incorporation vote. Official notices will be posted soon with eligibility, voting hours, and polling place details to follow in future issues.
