The new ferry at Hudson Hope is already busy with 50 vehicles crossing on Tuesday. It currently operates on a single shift from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. six days a week, with Sunday service not listed.

B Leboe, Social Credit, received the highest vote in the lvdea voting on Monday with 172 ballots. Graham Liberal 70, Henderson Prog. Cons. 94, Rutherford NDP 34. Poll officials included Mrs J M Grant DRO, Mrs X Kurjata, and Mrs EB Grant. Scrutineer Mr Sam Torrens. Voter turnout slightly over 62 percent with seven spoiled ballots.
Bert Leboe of Prince George Social Credit was endorsed by electors on Monday to become M P for Cariboo Ottawa. He narrowly beat Walter Gus Henderson Progressive Conservative who had held the seat for four years. Leboe previously represented Cariboo before the PC landslide. Fire damaged a Tracey residence with $500 loss from a wall and roof fire likely started by plastic covered wire, not connected to an electrical source. The dwelling was moved near Chetwynd Shoe Repair and expected to be occupied soon. Paving contracts for Hart Highway await official awards. Dawson and Wade of Vancouver equipment is in town on Windrem Creek. The vote to incorporate as the Village of Chetwynd is tentatively set for Monday July 30, pending confirmation from Returning Officer Wm Blak.
