Northwestern to speed main line Chicago to Omaha
Reports indicate a new schedule on the Chicago to Omaha main line shrinking travel time by about one and a half hours. The move follows a prior reduction between Chicago and the Twin Cities by more than an hour, affecting 419 miles and an eleven hour trip. It may provoke a headlong mail-railway competition with Burlington, which dominates Chicago to Omaha mail contracts. A separate dispatch from the Freeman Tribune notes Mrs. C L Cooper died in Toledo Ohio after illness. Her husband Charlie Cooper, native of Webster City, once traveled with family to Louisiana and Colorado seeking health gains. The couple were visiting Webster City friends years ago.
