Ricke Ditch Completed North of Town
Williams Wasp, Parks and Gerber completed the Ricke tile drain project north of town last week. The ditch cost about 6000 dollars, runs 480 rods, and uses 28 carloads of tile. Final filling remains for spring with 70 rods of 22 inch tile and the rest 20 to 10 inches. The completed ditch will aid land drainage next spring.
Arson Trial Set for March 2 in Wright County
George MacKown, charged with arson in the Webster City felt shoe factory fire, will not receive an extra January session. Judge Wright ruled no additional Wright County court session can be held January 6. MacKown will remain jailed in Hamilton County until the Clarion March 2 trial. He has been in custody since August after being brought from Bakersfield California.
