A coal miner spotted the dark object on a sandbar three quarters of a mile below the scene and alerted searchers. Three Lehigh men sentenced to jail in Des Moines river case
Fort Dodge August 5. John Maguire Peter Maguire and Jack Burton all of Lehigh were arrested after illegally seining in the Des Moines river. They pleaded guilty and received fifteen days in the county jail, with confinement under Sheriff Olson. A large net and other gear were seized and likely to be destroyed.

News from Nevada reports a fatal on board shooting in a New Hampshire train incident. Mrs C S Burnette wife of a former Cambridge minister, in failing health and mentally unsettled, was found dead in a toilet room after the 3 30 am discovery. The Rev M Burnette, traveling with her and his sister, reported the loss. A physician said death occurred about two hours before discovery.
