The T C T Club met Monday May 13 at Hotel Irvington with Mrs G Dreutzer and Mrs Dreutzer as entertainers. Roll call featured a book review and musical selections. Miss Dreutzer presented character sketches on Wisconsin authors Hamlin Garland Ella Wheeler Wilcox and Mal Moalee. Mr s Wood performed My Ragney. Miss Parkin led parliamentary practice and the business session followed by social hour. The next meeting is Monday May 27 at Mrs bk R Godfrey's residence with hosts Mrs Godfrey and Mrs Hl G Morton.

Armory inspection and camping plans announced
The regular semi monthly inspection occurred at the armory Saturday night May 11. Second Lieut. Zillmer inspected the arms as men wore clean shoes and dust free leaping leggings. After drill, Com. Chas. Curtis taught guard mounting and the camp uses the small armory by darkness. The camping committee secured tents and essentials for a ready week and invites all to the open meeting.

Sewer work begins on State Street with steam trench digger
Construction of the sewer system advances as pipe is laid on State Street. Contractor Cev. E. Zimmermann has brought in a steam trench digger arriving on Thursday, expected to speed the project. Board of Education Holds May Meetings and Committee Appointments
The Board met Monday evening May 6 at 8 PM to organize for the ensuing year. New commissioners Dr J W Cairncross and Frank E Woller qualified. Wheeler re-elected president. Nethercut elected vice president. May 14 session set standing committees including Finance, Supplies, Buildings and Grounds, Teachers, Rules, Discipline and Truancy, Course of Study, Text Books, and Complaints against Teachers and Janitor. A $25 appropriations motion funded commendation exercises. a wire screen was ordered for the east school grounds. Obituary notes Mrs Paulina Sylvester, 77, died May 15 at her daughter’s home. funeral May 18 at Baptist Church. State Board of Agriculture visited State Fair Park for grounds inspection and planned improvements.

Chicago and Northwestern Railway Under Crossing Planned
The Chicago and Northwestern Railway will build an under crossing on National Avenue for its new Menomonee Valley line. An iron bridge will extend the street over the tracks across the full roadway width and will be installed in sections to avoid travel delays.
