Butter Concern Closing Plants OPA Is Blamed
Land O Lakes Creameries president John Brandt announced one packaging plant will close, another operate half time, and processing cut at a third. Buffalo plant closed, Duluth half time, Minneapolis curtailment unless more butter is produced. Only one packaging machine remains in Minneapolis. Waukesha county authorities said on Thursday they found the navy neckerchief used to strangle Kenneth Kirner near the site where his murder car was abandoned. The neckerchief and two torn pairs of navy trousers were located in a culvert along Highway 18 about 500 feet from the abandonment spot. the trousers were identified as belonging to Kirner.

Two Dousman men told authorities they picked up three sailors the night of the Kirner murder drove them from the west limits of Waukesha to Highways 81 and 2 near Dousman. The trio planned to rob the next car. one of the sailors, Braddock, Payton, Cooper, and an unidentified young woman traveled from Milwaukee. Authorities found bloodied gear and items tied to the victim, Kirner, including dog tags and wallet pieces. Furniture Destroyed in New Berlin Barn Fire
A barn on the William Pankonen farm at New Berlin burned at 5 30 p m destroying household furniture valued over 1000 dollars. Fire Chief Emrie Downey attributed the blaze to defective wiring. Waukesha fire department arrived too late to save the structure. A roof fire at St Josephs school grounds drew a large crowd while Mrs Carrie Owens home at 822 Martin Street sustained about 50 in damage per the fire chief.

Brakeman suffers severe injuries beneath Milwaukee train
