Another Held for Stab Attempt in Municipal Court
Quirino Saldivar of 801 E Main St appeared in municipal court on a charge of assault to do great bodily harm after a knife threat during a dispute with Jose Garcia over a married daughter. Judge Scott Lowry set bail at 1500 dollars. Garcia was not cut, a gash tore the coat. The incident occurred at 6 30 p m Sunday on The Stand. Two other Mexicans await preliminary hearings on assault to do great bodily harm after a stabbing Friday night near the General Malleable foundry entrance. Benjamin Melendes, 41, of 818 E Main St is hospitalized in serious condition though improved. Solomon Gomez, 38, of 920 E Main St and Epifanio Martinez, 54, of 735 Pleasant at are held on 2500 bail each. Preliminary hearing set for Monday.

No Aid Promised for Civic Center
Col Sherman from the adjutant general's office met the Wer memorial committee and the building and grounds committee of the city council to discuss possible National Guard use of a proposed community building. No state or federal financial aid was promised. If organized, a Guard unit might use the building weekly, with the Guard paying rent between $1,800 and $2,400 annually and providing janitorial service. It would draft 161,000 youths aged 18 for one year of training and authorize 19 to 25 year olds for two years to reach armed forces strength. All 18 to 25 year olds would register. 19 to 25 draftees would serve two years then enter the reserve.

Edward Epson Dies After Illness at Waukesha Memorial
Edward Epson died at Waukesha Memorial hospital after a three week illness. He retired in 1935 from farming in Antigo. Survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carl Grady of Milwaukee and Mrs. James Keyes of Antigo. three sons Herbert of route 1, Elmer of Hartford, and Erwin of Medford. eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
