Bullet Graze Heads: Boy Narrowly Survives Shot

St. Mark's Is New Church Here

St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran church began services at Blair school with 63 confirmed and 99 baptized members. The group will use Blair school until a building is ready, as a committee seeks property. The church will serve west and outlying areas while St. Luke's serves most of the city. The installation featured Dr. J. H. Dressler and Rev. R. B. Gerberding stressing growth, cooperation, and the cornerstone role of Christ. A resident pastor will be called this summer.

Die at 25, Heitmueller Survives to 99 Birthday

Alfred Heitmueller, told at 24 he would die within a year, celebrated his 99th birthday yesterday. The doctor who forecast his death has long since passed away. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch won the 1947 Pulitzer Prize for meritorious public service.

Teenagers Injured In Weekend Waukesha County Crashes

Weekend crashes in Waukesha County injure seven Milwaukee teens and two motorcyclists. James Smith 18 of Wauwatosa drove east on Highway 59 and overturned in a ditch after a passenger reached for the wheel amid oncoming traffic. Assassin Confession Ties Greek Minister Killing to Reds

Greek authorities said Justice Minister Christos Ladas was killed by a May Day grenade attack. The confessed assassin, 22 year old Bustration Moutsoyiannis, said he acted on Communist party orders but would not name accomplices. Meat Union Offers to Cut Pay Demand

CHICAGO AP The United Packinghouse Workers said they would consider settling the nationwide meat strike for a nine cent hourly raise if packers cut meat prices. The strike began March 16 and has spread to Detroit and Omaha. 60,000 workers are affected. Deadly Midwest Storms Kill Twenty Across States

A series of tornadoes and severe electrical storms across Oklahoma Kansas Missouri Illinois West Virginia Kentucky and nearby areas left twenty people dead and hundreds of thousands in property damage.
