Waukesha county chest clinic will be held at the Oak sanatorium in Pewaukee on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. County Nurse Charlotte Moore announced. Tuberculosis skin tests and fluoroscopic examinations will be given by a chest specialist, with findings reported to the family physician.

A taxi driven by Howard McGowan, 30, of 201 Wisconsin Ave, collided with a Northwestern railroad freight train at the Grand Ave crossing Friday at 2:30 am. The taxi was badly damaged but McGowan was uninjured as the train stood waiting to pick up water.

Cynthia Johnson, 14, of Kingston Jamaica, beneficiary of a group life policy held by her father Theophilus Johnson, will receive $4000 from Metropolitan Life Insurance via the Jamaican representative in Chicago. The father was killed in a Milwaukee torch slaying last August. Benny Dixon is serving 14 to 25 years for second degree murder. Dixon also labored previously in Waukesha.
Circuit Judge Henry Graass of Green Bay and court reporter Ewart MacKenzie died in a collision near Madison on Friday. Witnesses say Graass’s car skidded on slick pavement, striking Bailey’s car. Bailey was injured but not seriously. Graass, a 14th circuit judge since 1912, was active in juvenile delinquency reform and many civic groups. He leaves two daughters and siblings. MacKenzie, a Green Bay resident, was a former merchant marine. Funeral services for Graass planned in Sturgeon Bay with details released by his brother.
Mrs. Norbert Pederson of 513 North West Avenue reports the death of her brother Leo Morrison aged 44 from illness. Morrison had been ill for several months and died Tuesday night in San Lendro, California.
A divorce was granted Thursday by County Judge Allen D. Young to Weukesha Route 2 resident, who wed Earl in May 1945. The couple, who have no children, cited separateness as the basis.
Dublin reports Cardinal Glennon of St. Louis is seriously ill with uremia and lung infection. A medical bulletin states the 83 year old prelate has developed new complications, with his secretary noting a less favorable outlook and signs of mental lapse though he remains conscious.
Red Cross workers begin canvassing the business district for contributions. Les Schibursky, city business district chairman, says the downtown area is split into 20 zones with a solicitor for each zone. Home visits by volunteers are planned on Red Cross Sunday, March 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. with a $2 family gift goal. Waukesha’s city quota is $12,800. Industrial-firm solicitations led by Joe Oliver start immediately, with named solicitors listed.
Okauchee Lake resort owners and businessmen formed the Okauchee Lake Association of Commerce to promote the lake as a summer playground. Ed Muller was elected president with Henry McGowan vice president, Jerome Bartelme secretary, and Ed West treasurer. Board terms vary with E R Lacy three years, James Simonis two years, George Hirt and Edward Howden one year. Rev. L F Whelan named honorary board member.

Flurries are expected in eastern areas Saturday with partial clouds and continued cold. stronger north winds tonight. Temperatures at midnight range from seven to thirty, with yesterday’s high around 18 and low 28. Year ago highs near 40 and lows near 15. Local hour readings show temperatures around ys.45.
More than three hundred World War II veterans will be initiated next week into the Daniel J. Martin post of the American Legion in a major mass initiation at Waukesha High School Gym on Saturday March 16 at 8 02 pm. The Uptown Milwaukee post degree team will conduct the ceremony and has earned respect for its ritual work over five years. Mayor George Coutts and past state Legion commander Frank Greenyn will speak, as the Waukesha High School band provides music.
President Truman created an emergency board under the railway mediation act to review the General Motors strike and related rail dispute. The move postpones widespread walkouts, with tensions high as a 30 to 60 day delay is set and officials discuss anti strike legislation.
