Waukesha approves land purchase for new schools
The council authorized a 4400 acre land buy on the Adam Seitz farm south of the city for a proposed senior high, athletic stadium and an elementary school. The move follows 34 months of negotiation led by Alderman Harry Franson, amid plans by the school board to seek 46000 for the project and to extend Flattwell avenue. Superintendent R F Lewis outlined a long range plan including rebuilding White Rock and Hadfield, replacing Union, expanding Bish and Randall, and adding a 1000 pupil site on the south side. He warned current buildings do not meet needs as enrollment nears 4000 with growth expected. The football field would be built immediately with large bleachers.
