Pewaukee raid nets three safecrackers in fishing-gear ambush
Milwaukee detectives halted a county safe-cracking spree after raiding a cottage near Bremera resort on Pewaukee Lake. They arrested Bernard Faxewski, Raymond Hensen, and R. Peszlewicz, identifying Pazewski as the brains behind the gang linked to multiple breaks since May. Det. Capt. Kraemer said officers watched lakes statewide, closing in after last week’s Iron Mountain capture of Robert Van Beek.

Carl Decloux, 39, a former Leiyenwarth penitentiary graduate, faced charges in Waukesha and Rock counties. After escaping minor traffic counts, he drove a stolen 1949 Ford from Beloit, was freed due to lack of witnesses, then charged again with driving stolen property. He sought self defense but an attorney was appointed. Bond set at $1,000. Separately, Harold Dalzin’s bail remained $1,000 after an appeal denied. Victor Planku paid a $5 fine for driving left of center after falling asleep at the Wisconsin State Fair.

About 4 000 public school students in Waukesha will start the fall term Thursday September 8 with all city public schools back in session in September. Parochial and Catholic Memorial high schools will open September 12. Vocational adult day classes begin September 12 with regular student registration September 7 and night class registration September 7 to 30. Carroll College will register September 20 to 23 and classes start September 25. New faculty and administrators arrive across junior high and high schools, with Clyde Morse Shields named high school principal and several teachers listed, while Grade schools add eight new instructors.

Thirty members of the county Democratic Organizing Committee met to map a two pronged campaign aimed at rural voters and union workers within the county.
