Seven Children Die in Rockaway Park Home Fire
New York reports that seven child inmates of a Rockaway Park children’s home died in a fire that swept part of the building. Firemen found the bodies while digging among ruins. most victims were under five. About 750 children were housed in the institution run by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brooklyn. many escaped when alarm sounded, leaving some bodies undiscovered in the dormitory above the laundry.
