From May 28 1899 to Oct 8 1909 several deadly Rock Island accidents near Waterloo caused multiple fatalities. Notable incidents include the May 28 1899 crash between Waterloo and Washburn with eight dead and several injured Norris Siding near Cedar Falls on Sept 4 1907 with fourteen killed and many hurt Greene also saw fatalities. Pioneer Mrs Nutt Dies In Tama County At 87
Mrs. Caroline Goodenow Nutt, pioneer settler of Tama County, died Monday evening at her farm home eight miles southwest of La Porte City in her 87th year. She married Romanzo Nutt in 1842 and journeyed from New York to Chicago in 1844, later settling in Tama County. Survived by her husband, four children Martha Rodman, David L., Charles M., and Frank B., 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral held at Geneseo church.
