Rev Hemesath Dies at Omaha in 49th Year

Rev Father Henry J Hemesath pastor of St Marys Waterloo died in St Josephs hospital Omaha at 14 m today He left Waterloo Monday for medical treatment aged 49 born 1857 Cincinnati Ohio moved to Ossian Iowa as a boy He served Arcadia Carroll Co Centralia Illinois and St Marys Waterloo where he oversaw church rebuilding and parochial school He donated bells and built altars with his own hands Funeral arrangements awaited confirmation by Dean Mark Cooney and relatives in Ossian and Dubuque

Fire destroys Stanhope business district in Iowa blaze

Webster City Iowa reports a morning fire in Stanhope burning twelve blocks of the west business section. The blaze started from a cigar stub dropped in sawdust by boys in an ice house. Estimated damage around 75000 dollars, largely insured.
