Stole to Get In Ja Threat Fades at City Hall
Ed Hate a disheveled vagrant was arrested and brought to city hall after shoplifting and theft sprees. Officer Morris identified him as a man once aided at Illinois Central depot. Hate attempted more thefts including a bridle and hammer, then was warned of a coercive labor device in the hall basement. He fled Waterloo, with rumors of escape and ongoing manhunt.

Death of Infant Behy Friedley in East Waterloo Township
Infant son of Mr and Mrs D Friedley died last night at about 39 o clock aged two days. He was the fifth child in the family. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 from the home and burial will follow at Mt Zion cemetery.

Waterloo Church to Award Contracts for New Gothic Edifice
Wm C Jones of Turnbull Jones of Elem Ill arrived in Waterloo to discuss final details for the new Congregational church. Contracts slated to be awarded April 26. The Gothic brick exterior with stone trim and slate roof will feature an oak interior and art glass windows. Seating capacity about 750, expandable to 1000 with a movable partition. The 50 by 125 foot building will cost 40000 and include basement social rooms. Architects specialize in church design, planning roughly sixty yearly. Bids expected from Chicago Omaha and other centers.

Fred Carl Heug of 1024 Mulberry Street Waterloo died this morning from a stomach tumor. Born in Germany November 14 1842 he crossed to the United States at 32 settling first in Worth County Iowa. Survived by wife and five children Hermann of Marion N D Albertina Tesh St Ansgar Minnie at home and Otto P Klug Waterloo. Funeral plans pending with burial to be in St Ansgar. Also notes M Cahill sold horses at Holland gates with Ralph Watters 22 Hudson and Tillie C Rasmussen 20 Cedar Falls licensed to wed.

Authorities report complaints about him and note he has drifted through Waterloo for over a year while alleging mistreatment at home. He claims he prefers staying away, had past Salvation Army contact, and was briefly in military regalia before discarding it. He was selling Saturday Evening Posts at Golden Rule this morning as police pressed for travel.

Chicago markets report hog prices opening up 5 to 10 cents and closing mostly 10 cents higher with good to choice heavy hogs at 6.10 to 6.40. Estimated tomorrow receipts 16,000. hogs left over 3,800. Cattle opened 10 cents higher and closed strong. Sheep opened and closed steady.
