A lightning strike during a Sunday baseball game at St. Anthony killed Albert LaPlant a 22 year old second baseman and knocked down eight teammates none seriously injured. The bolt burned LaPlant’s body and shoes and he died instantly witnessed by about 100 spectators. LaPlant was a well known local player and son of Mrs. C. M. LaPlant Gorman. The eight others who fell recovered quickly.
