Son Murders Father Over Proposed Marriage Plans
Mason City Iowa December 86 All northern Iowa is excited over the murder of Martin McNamara by his son Edward McNamara. The father a well to do man popular, had planned to marry Miss Kate Coran. The son fired five bullets into his father and then drank chloroform to take his own life. Revived he admitted the crime saying he did not want another woman to gain the property his mother had built. He is in jail.
