They were tracked from Lake Osakis to Fargo Moorhead and finally Moorehead where Bell was found and then fled again. The Hayes woman had prior marriage and Bell deeded his Geneva home to his wife before leaving. The Wolfe case for attempted rape was dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Death at milking as Decorah man Cassil passes
Jim L Cassil, about sixty, an eccentric itinerant worker in Decorah Iowa, died suddenly while milking cows at Nels Remmensen’s southeast farm. Coroner Dr Swezey found aneurism of the aorta as the cause. A wallet with $116 in five dollar bills and one silver dollar, pinned with a safety pin, was found in his clothing suggesting funeral expenses.
