Porch Climber Robs Cedar Falls Students at Night

In Cedar Falls a bold porch climber entered Charley Bly's near the normal school and stole about $31 from two students, Masel Webster and Heith Shaw, who were homebound. Mystery man Arthur Young identified after jail scare

A stranger held at the county jail, later identified as Arthur Young, was brought from Freeport by his wife and Chaplin. Young, nearing fifty, suffers a mental condition and wandered from Barclay township to Henry Poyner’s home before being subdued and moved toward Freeport for care. He is not insane but mentally affected and was expected to be returned to Freeport.

Officer Haas captures four robbers in daring bank blast

Marshalltown April 15 Officer Frank Haas of the local police single handedly pursued and cornered four safe blowers who dynamited the Marshall Vinegar company safe. He shot and wounded one robber who fled with companions toward the railroad yards, later arresting three others and detaining additional suspects. The burglars, all middle aged strangers, carried a complete safe blowing outfit including dynamite and caps. only $15 was taken. The wounded robber showed resilience as he was searched and treated, with officials praising Haas for his brave and effective response.
