Ketcham Held On Mail Fraud Charges In Iowa
John Muir a northern Iowa livestock shipper in Cerro Gordo county was held to the Federal grand jury on a charge of using the mails to promote a fraud selling lead slides to be attached to Fairbanks scales. An inspector traced decoy letters to Muir after he used assumed names and concealed shipments. He was bound over after a confession at Clarion. The scheme sought about fifty dollars per carload and targeted livestock dealers across several states.

Davenport Man Rescued After River Suicide Attempt
W C Traut man, about 32 and unmarried, an attorney and Humane Society secretary, leaped into the Mississippi at the Davenport levee on April 9.
