Louisa apple growers advised cooperative selling impractical
After surveying Louisa County orchards, County Agent Rolly Pickford and 11. I. Nichols of the Extension Service concluded cooperative selling is impractical. They noted many orchards would have over half the crop unfit for sale due to insufficient spraying. They recommended farmers pick winter varieties, sort carefully, and store fruit temporarily in a warehouse before shipping in barrel lots.
