Investors’ Unprofitable Foreign Stocks Highlighted in Appeal
The hearing before Judge Durham included an appeal from assessment in the Meltney v. County Auditor Rainbow case. McElhinney described foreign stock holdings with unprofitable ventures including a timber development near New Orleans and a southern railway stake held through a receiver. The Iowa Mausoleum stock issue could not be precisely tallied. Also noted: Scribner v. W., C.F. & N. remains underway for $15,000 damages after a boy’s foot injury. Police pension votes denied Mr Haines but granted Mrs Hoxle a $20 monthly pension. Haines’ rehabilitation was deemed insufficient to justify continued payment. Advertisements for Crown Flour and Lytle Flour appear.
