Country-Wide View of Crop Conditions Still Reassuring
Weather conditions for the week ending Sept 25 were mixed with high winds and floods in the Atlantic states causing late crop damage and limited farm work. Elsewhere, fall plowing and seeding were slowed by dry soils while frost spread through central northern states. Overall staple crops suffered little damage due to advanced stage and threshing proceeded in late districts.

Drouth Impedes Plowing and Seeding Across Principal Areas
Slow progress in winter wheat and other grains due to drought affects the Ohio valley, southern Missouri, and Great Plains. Frosts in the northwest injure little of the corn crop, with about four fifths safe in Iowa and frost occurring earlier than last year. An island off Yucatan hosts about 20 bird species unseen elsewhere.
