Dairy Calf Club Exhibit at Show to Be Elaborate
Nine head of calves from Guernsey Jersey and Holstein stock will anchor a calf club exhibit at the cattle show. The display aims to prove the practicality of forming more dairy calf clubs on a three year basis with stock from original club heifers. J P Eves, a former dairy expert, will challenge claims that dairy calf club work is unfeasible and unprofitable, as Donald Dough Lewis Barnes and Glenn Heisel from Fayette Jefferson Hersey will judge, demonstrate feeding, and fit cattle under expert guidance. The demonstration takes place in the sales pavilion, with Waterloo entrants heading to St Paul for an interstate judging contest at the national dairy show the following week.

He notes many farms still rely on horses, tractors underperform in wet soil, and horse shows and stallion sales rise. He cites 22 Iowa farms supervised and a stronger income from surplus horses as evidence.
