Riviera Screens Wallace Beery in Beggars of Life
Patrons will hear Beery in a talking version of Beggars of Life at the Riviera tomorrow with Louis Brooks and Richard Arlen in supporting roles. The film follows a farm girl who hits the road with a tramp after killing her foster father, with Beery as Okla Homa Red leading a band of hoboes amid action and pathos. Movietone News and Jazz Town stage show accompany the reel, with Fireworks, Digging Deeper, and an organ novelty. Thursday brings The Water Hole in color starring Jack Holt plus new Movietone subjects.
