Good Corn Crops Boost Feeder Cattle Demand in Iowa
Des Moines report by federal livestock statistician Les Ne’M Carl finds Iowa and Illinois driving a rise in stocker and feeder cattle purchases amid lower prices and possible corn shortages. Iowa shows a 61,529 head movement in July-August 1929, with Indiana and Missouri seeing smaller or negative changes. Demand for light feeders remains strong while total 1929 expectations hint at moderate cattle numbers and later peak prices than last year.
