New Tee Well Refrigerator Aids Dairy Farms
U S Department of Agriculture officials report a season test of a pit ice well cooling system for dairy use. A sunken well eight by nine and a half feet deep forms an ice block up to eight feet by two feet, with a wooden house over the pit. Cream and milk cooled from 56.5 F to 34 F in three hours when placed in ice, lasting into October with good storage and no odors. The experiment, at Mandan, shows promise where standard refrigeration is impractical but notes it covers only one season and will be continued with variations.
