Scott County Tax Levies Are Larger
Davenport Sept 14 A tentative tax levy for 1922 fixed by the Scott county board of supervisors shows an increase of about four mills in the county levy. The total county levy is 38.10 mills and with the Davenport city school levy the city total reaches 96 mills up from 92 last year. The rise adds roughly $1 in taxes per $1000 of property value. Main causes are higher funds for road bond interest and deficiency payments, a higher state fund levy set by the Town executive council, and small increases in other funds. The road bond interest levy rises 2.2 mills to a total of 6 mills, the limit of the bond issue. Wales boasts the largest slate quarries in the world.
