The case cited drunkenness protecting bootleggers and soliciting bribes with sensational connections to Des Moines women and local bootleggers. Former Des Moines journalist J Harry Moore Hamilton's private secretary was twice arrested for conspiracy to commit adultery and adultery. It was hinted Hamilton would be arrested or the grand jury would take up the case.
