Diamond Handcuffs at the Plaza Receives Mixed Reception
A three act play titled Diamond Handcuffs played at the Plaza last night. The production featured Eleanor Boardman, Conrad Nagel, and Lawrence Gray in an almost star cast. Despite strange, disjointed structure connecting Musa the African half caste girl and the Shah, the show was not a flop but offered a markedly unusual presentation with three portraits of death and unhappiness across the diamond’s life.

Island in Cedar Will Be Blasted for Channel Clearance
Linn county engineer William Behrens expects a minor dynamite operation Thursday and Friday to remove a Cedar River island southeast of Center Point. The one quarter mile by 300 foot landmass has diverted flow toward the Center Point road bridge, and blasting a lengthwise channel will allow water to erode the island, restoring the river’s natural channel after a decade of island growth and uprooting young trees.
