Pension ruling unchanged for Waterloo police and fire

Des Moines Attorney General John Fletcher ruled that police and fire members must contribute 1 percent of salaries to pension maintenance whether or not under civil service. Waterloo practice already requires 1 percent from officers, with about 560 dollars from officers and 2900 from taxpayers for police, and 700 from officers and 3000 from taxpayers for fire. The Newton ruling involved pension funds financed entirely by tax levy.
