Trotsky notes Soviet rites supplant church ceremonies
In a Moscow dispatch Trotsky argues that Soviet life is adopting ceremony for birth marriage and death. He cites labor unions and factory committees conducting inspections naming newborns after revolutionary figures and celebrating school entry with holidays. Cremation is favored but rituals remain vital, with moving pictures proposed as a substitute for church and tavern displays.
