Potatoes Harvested From Sixth Of An Acre Claim
E Metz, of Round Prairie township near Fairfield Ta, claims the title of champion potato raiser for the region after harvesting 70 bushels of White Pearl potatoes from a one sixth acre plot. The ground measured 35 rows by six rows, planted April 1, with seedlings producing unusually uniform fruit weighing 23 4 pounds each. If continued, an acre would yield about 480 bushels, though Metz intends only enough for his family with many bushels left for winter sale.
