Fishway Improves Cedar River Passage At Fourth Street Dam
A new fish way at the Fourth Street dam in Waterloo Cedar Falls Union is designed to ease migratory fish movement under supervision of J Chapman deputy game and fish warden. Another fishway exists at Black Hawk Creek dam, as conservationists warn Cedar River game fish near extinction due to market fishing, increased anglers and habitat loss. Calls grow for protective legislation and earlier closed seasons to preserve sport fish in Iowa.
