J W Elmore aged 32 a repairman at the W C L F N Co powerhouse sustained a severe head cut and body bruises from a scaffolding fall Sunday morning. He is reported improving at Alten Memorial Hospital and plans to return home at 546 Teland Avenue in a few days. The accident occurred while he worked atop a boiler when a board slipped sending him to the concrete floor.

Vein of Hard Coal Found by Iowa Oil Drill

Drillings at Sermour Iowa resumed near an oil well and revealed a 12 foot vein of gyphion at 651 feet and a hard coal vein at 760 feet. Report says the drill penetrated seven feet in the coal seam and the coal is declared superior to Pennsylvania hard coal.

Dry Agents Raid Rooms of Foreign War Vets

Federal prohibition agents raided a Tulsa hotel hosting the Veterans of Foreign Wars annual encampment. About several score delegates were present. 18 former service men were arrested but released after protests from convention leaders. Agents say the raid targeted bootleggers, not service members, and a small quantity of fighter was seized. Four thousand delegates from multiple expeditions attended the convention.

Cheboygan Mich Sept 1 Volunteer fire fighters were called to battle a forest fire advancing toward the Martin Amber Company plant at the city limits.
